In a sector focused heavily on automation, the power of people and cultivating strong working relationships is still integral to success.
That was one of the key messages that resonated as VeloxServ was delighted to be invited to the first UK Partner Week Summit, held in the heart of London, at the state-of-the-art conference facility at Convene, 133 Houndsditch, on Wednesday, 9th July, 2025.
VeloxServ’s MD, Craig Messer and Head of Marketing, Rob Tickle, joined other industry leaders at the inaugural event, hosted by BPL Media, aimed at bringing together Business Leaders, Sales, Marketing and Technical teams from the UK technology reseller channel, to provide an opportunity to focus on closer collaboration and shared best practice to support the continued success of the sector.
The morning’s keynote speaker was Jason Bevan, former Creative Lead at Warner Bros Studios. His talk focused on how to rocket fuel ambition, innovation and creativity, drawing on his many years of experience working on big movies such as the Harry Potter films, the Lego movies and Aquaman.
“It was great to get a perspective from outside of our industry on how to harness innovation and creativity from Jason because our industry like many others can be guilty of looking to insularly at itself,” said Rob Tickle.
In his talk Jason highlighted the importance of the human touch in creativity and how important it is to think about how we make our customers feel. He also talked about taking conventions and breaking them and how the environment we work in is key to unlocking creativity.
“The session got us thinking a lot about our own industry. We hear a great deal now for example in the channel about the proliferation of portals, AI automation and other technical innovations, all of which is clearly important and adds significant value for MSPs and ISPs. We like other aggregators in the market are making great strides in those innovations, but it’s important to remember though that at its heart our industry is a consultative and collaborative one,” added Rob.
“We as the wholesale connectivity provider are there to help our partners to solve problems for their customers. To do that properly requires a relationship built on trust and central to that trust is people. No portal, AI Bot or ChatGPT generated social media content can replace that.”
The theme of tapping into emotions and finding the right balance between data driven insight, technology and the human touch continued strongly throughout the day, including the sales, marketing and technology focused break out sessions held over lunch.
The afternoon’s focus to was heavily focused on people and cultivating high performing teams. Including the afternoon keynote talk from Karen Blackett, former UK President at WPP, who focused on how to build winning teams.
“It was great to hear Karen talk about the need for a synergy between how a business operates and how its customers operate and that encouraging ambition and growth within a winning team is crucial to that process, that’s certainly something we aim to focus on in our business,” said Craig Messer, MD of VeloxServ.
“We took a tremendous amount from the day and we’re keen to take the key messages from the day and continue to build strong partnerships in the channel,” added Craig.
